Disney and Pixar let you dance the days away

In an interesting promotional move, Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios initiate a dance marathon to celebrate the release of A Bug’s Life on VHS and DVD on April 20.

The marathon, called A JitterBUG’S LIFE will be accompanied by a Hippest Bug costume contest. Hundreds of Jitterbuggers will bop, shag and lindy hop non-stop, competing for a first place cash prize of $10,000 and a second place cash prize of $4,000. Adding to the fun, hundreds of people “bugged-out” in their best bug gear will compete for cash prizes in a special “Hippest Bug” Costume Contest. The best bug costume will receive a first place cash prize of $2,000, with second place and third place winners receiving $1,000 and $500 respectively.

WHO: A BUG’S LIFE voice talent, including “News Radio’s” Dave Foley (Flik), “Fraisier’s” David Hyde Pierce (Slim) and “Spin City’s” Richard Kind (Molt), on hand to perform a special Jitterbug dance; hundreds of local champion Jitterbuggers and people dressed-up in their most original bug costumes.

WHEN: Tuesday April 20, 1999 – Doors open at 5:30 pm “Hippest Bug” Costume Contest begins at 6:45 pm “A JitterBUG’S LIFE” Dance Marathon begins at 7:00 pm The marathon, scheduled to occur over many days, ends when one couple is left standing.
