Today the first official steps to shut down Polygram Films take effect. Over 30 employees of the company lose their job as of this morning, marking a significant step in the company’s torn history. In an expected move, Polygram’s new owner, Universal Pictures finally decided to shut down Polygram’s distribution arm and plans are well under way to close down all of Polygram Films“ distribution and marketing division within the next six weeks. All distribution and marketing for Polygram Filmed Entertainment will now be handled by Universal Pictures” according departments and all of the company’s entire film library has been sold off to Carlton Communications and MGM respectively earlier.
