Anti-shoplifting device introduced for DVD

Our friends over at the DVD File have an interesting snippet about security tags for DVD, which will help retailers to reduce shoplifting of their articles. Like the electronic tags used for CDs, videos and computer games, these tags will now be utilized to secure DVDs as well, according to the “DVD File”.
Although the complete Warner group, including MGM and New Line, as well as Columbia have signed up to use the source tags already, there still seems to be some controversy on the issue, as the tagging of DVDs will cost the producer 5¢ per unit.
