Some news has arrived from The Criterion Collection about two upcoming releases, the new release of Alain Resnais“ Last Year at Marienbad and a re-release of Ingmar Berman’s The Seventh Seal. Both releases are coming to DVD and Blu-ray.

The Seventh Seal contains many of the extras from the Criterion DVD. The disc comes with an introduction from Bergman, an audio commentary by Peter Cowie, an afterward by Cowie, an 83 minute documentary on Bergman, audio interviews with Max von Sydow a 1998 tribute by Woody Allen, the original trailer Bergman 101 and a booklet. The disc contains an optional English soundtrack and improved subtitles.

Last Year at Marienbad includes an audio interviews with Resnais, a documentary on the making of the film, video interviews, two of Resnais” documentary shorts; Toute la memoire du monde and Le chant du styrene, a trailer, an optional unrestored French track, improved subtitles and a booklet.

Two new titles to add to the collection. The Seventh Seal arrives June 16th and Last Year arrives one week later.
