Sony breaks the silence with The Covenant

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just slated Renny Harlin’s horror flick The Covenant for release in January for both DVD and Blu-Ray.

In 1692, in the Ipswich Colony of Massachusetts, five families with untold power formed a covenant of silence. One family, lusting for more, was banished’their bloodline disappearing without a trace. Until now.

Four young students at an elite private school who are descendants of the original families who settled in Ipswich Colony in the 1600s, are bound by their sacred ancestry and special powers. When the body of a dead student is discovered after a party, secrets begin to unravel that threaten to break the covenant of silence that has protected their families for hundreds of years.

The Blu-Ray version will feature a widescreen presentation of the movie, complemented by English audio tracks in 5.1 PCM and 5.1 Dolby Digital, as well as a French 5.1 Dolby Digital track.

The DVD version will contain both, a widescreen transfer as well as a fullframe version on the same disc.

As extras both releases will contain a Commentary Track by Renny Harlin and the Featurette “Breaking The Silence”.

“The Coventant” will be in stores on January 2 with a $28.95 sticker price for the DVD version and a $38.95 price tag for the Blu-Ray version.
