SKG OK’s A.I. DVD

He may not be real, but his DVD is. The collaboration of two of the twentieth century’s most successful directors comes to DVD in A.I. – Artificial Intelligence, the most recent film from Steven Spielberg and the final parting thought from the late Stanley Kubrick. The DVD will be coming as a special two-disc special edition from Dreamworks SKG and not from Warner Brothers Home Entertainment who co-produced the film with SKG.

In a future world of runaway global warming and awe-inspiring scientific advances, humans share every aspect of their lives with sophisticated companion robots called Mechas. But when an advanced prototype robot child named David (Haley Joel Osment) is programmed to show unconditional love, his human family isn’t prepared for the consequences. Suddenly, David is on his own in a strange and dangerous world. Befriended by a streetwise Mecha (Jude Law), David embarks on a spectacular quest to discover the startling secret of his own identity.

Presented in anamorphic widescreen with audio in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 the film will come with a documentary on the film, production designs and conceptual drawings, interviews with Steven Spielberg, Haley Joel Osment and Jude Law, a behind-the-scenes featurette, a featurette on the work of Stan Winston Studios in the creation of the robots for “A.I.”, a separate set of more technically oriented interviews with Dennis Muren and Scott Ferar, a tour of Skywalker Sound, a conversation with John Williams, storyboard sequences, production drawings, a photo gallery, and theatrical trailers.

The Blue Fairy will grant us all a new DVD on March 5th, 2002. The 2-disc set will carry a suggested retail price of $22.95.
