With the success of ’My Greek Wedding’ it was only a matter of time until more romantic comedies appear using the cultural differences between people as a background for their funnies. ’Loco Love’ is such a film, pairing up the Italian culture this time with the American lifestyle. However, don’t dismiss the film too quickly, because ultimately it is a very funny comedy that makes a number of witty social observations and is sure to keep you entertained and giggling for its 95 minutes.

Artisan Home Entertainment is presenting ’Loco Love’ in a fullframe presentation only on this DVD. I have not been able to find out whether that is the movie’s original aspect ratio or now, but it may very well be since the film never went into wide theater distribution. The image is very clear and free of defects with nice, vibrant colors. The daytime shots, the interiors and the night time shots are all rich and boast strong colors that are never over-saturated. Image definition is very good and no grain or noise is evident for the most part. No distracting edge-enhancement is visible and the compression is free of artifacts.

The DVD contains a 5.1 channel Dolby Digital and a Dolby Surround audio track, both of which are well-produced and free of defects as well. With a good frequency response it sounds naturally at all times and dialogues are well integrated, never being drowned out.

A few supplements are provided on the disc, such as an engaging commentary track by the director that offers additional insight into the production, a behind-the-scenes featurette and a selection of delted scenes. Together these material round out the picture, making this release a solid package altogether.

’Loco Love’ is fun and charming. Artisan has prepared a good package for this movie, so make sure to check it out some time.
