"Demon to some. Angel to others." In a place between pleasure and pain, there is sensual experience beyond limits. And in a world between paradise and purgatory, there is a horror that feeds the souls of evil. Welome to the world of Clive Barker, and his brand new color UMD Disc of "Hellraiser".

An unfaithful wife encounters the zombie of her dead lover, who's being chased by demons after he tampered with one of their gateways to Hell (a mysterious Chinese puzzle box).

Soon she is able to bring him back from the dead through human sacrifices to complete his decayed body. However, Cenobites, demons from the Beyond, claim possession of the man and do their thing to make sure he stays in their Hell.

The UMD is released in it's original color 1.85:1 aspect ratio in widescreen, and the results are a bit varied. Overall, I was impressed with deep black levels, sharp video, and good color. The Dolby Digital Stereo on the UMD is very good. Audio is nice and separated, with professional directional effects. Using the up-graded UMD earphones, I enjoyed excellent sound balance, as voices travel from left to right speaker. Multi-track background foley is nicely done. For those who care, the insect noises are vibrant and disturbing. Dialogue appears to be almost 100% looped (or dubbed-in). Frank Cotton (Sean Chapman)'s voice is an obvious recreation, as the dub-artist's husky tones don't match the actor's lips.

Now let's look at the extras. When you load the movie, you go to a title screen that has one choice: Play movie. That's it. There aren't even chapter selections. But the movie logo zooms in and out on the PSP screen. All right! A classic movie very nicely done On UMD (bare-bones and all).
