Universal Home Video has prepared a brand-new 16x9 enhanced widescreen transfer for this DVD release, and the result is a great looking presentation of the movie. It provides a great level of detail and perfectly restores the movie's original color schemes - whose subtle qualities often got lost in previous video incarnations. The transfer exhibits a great shadow delineation with deep, solid blacks and balanced highlights, creating a great looking picture throughout.
'Fast Times At Ridgemont High' contains the movie's original monaural Dolby Digital soundtrack in a 2-channel presentation. The sound quality is good, although the frequency response is somewhat limited with no notable bass extension. As a result the many powerful songs used throughout the movie come across somewhat flat and lifeless, but since that's the way they had been originally, I won't be the one to complain.
'Fast Times At Ridgemont High' is a great and funny teen movie from the 80s. Spiced up with the plethora of extras Universal added to this Collector's Edition, this is a release you shouldn't miss to check out. |
