“Paramount and Hilton had announced a joint venture in creating a place where Star Trek could be recreated. They came up with "Star Trek: The Experience". I followed their progress as the attraction was being built. Many construction delays later, and a few years after Paramount and Hilton made the deal to build it, an opening date was finally set. Thanks to a contact at the hotel, I was able to book a room and reserve airline tickets before the news was even put onto their web page or 800 number. A few weeks later they announded, and I purchased, tickets to a "fan preview" party. However, once in Vegas, I was told about a black-tie gala that was going to have numerous Star Trek celebrities there, along with media, local dignitaries and politicians. An hour before the gala was set to begin (along with the "official" grand opening theatrics), I was given a ticket to the black-tie party. I had to rush out and rent a tux, but it was the best $100 I ever spent”, Greg tells us. Don’t you wish you were as lucky as some guys? Thanks for this cool picture, Greg, and thanks for sharing the story with all of us. |
