What is the reason that some of the Collector's Editions are still not 16x9 enhanced?
I would say that since we launched DVD, anytime a 16x9 transfer was available, we used it for DVD.

A number of Universal releases - especially from the earlier release batches - contained a number of pan&scan versions. Can you tell us why?
Early on the plan was to release all titles full frame based on the research at that time. Given the changes in the industry and consumer expectations, we are continually adjusting the features offered with our DVD releases and will continue to do so to remain on the forefront of this new technology.
For example, in the future, there will be full frame movies coming out on DVD because there is a growing population of consumers looking for them.
Whether a full frame version appears with a widescreen version or by itself is still up in the air.

Universal is creating some of the most content rich Special Editions on DVD. Do you have any plans to add more DVD-ROM features in the future like New Line and MGM do, for example?
We are planning many exciting special features options for DVD-ROM that will be announced at a later date.

Will we see any of the Universal classic horror films like Frankenstein, Dracula, etc. on DVD anytime soon?
You can expect to see the original horror classics in 1999.

How does Universal gather requests, and where can people go to make requests?
Universal Studios Home Video has a dedicated DVD website located at www.universalstudios.com/dvd where Internet requests can be directed.

Which one has been Universal's most successful DVD release so far?
“Mercury Rising” which is soon to be surpassed by the Collector's Edition of “Out Of Sight”. Following close behind are the Collector's Editions of “The Jackal” and “Apollo 13”.

Can you give us a brief outlook into what DVD owners can expect from Universal in 1999?
We have an exciting slate of feature films and library titles coming in 1999. Expect to see continued day and date releases with VHS, more Collector's Editions, special bonus features, DVD-ROM applications and a few other surprises.
