Last night was the at the Directors Guild in Hollywood. It was the first screening of the version that Richard Donner had originally intended for the sequel to 'Superman' and had shot 70% of during the first film's production. In a word, In attendance were Donner, Creative Consultant Tom Mankiewicz, Margot Kidder (Lois Lane), Marc McClure ('Jimmy Olsen'), Jack O'Halloran ('Non'), Sarah Douglas ('Ursa'), Noel Neill (the original Lois from the 40s serial and 50s TV series), as well as 'Superman Returns' Bryan Singer, Brandon Routh and Sam Huntington! I don't want to go into too much detail (a full review of the HD-DVD will be forthcoming), but when November 28th comes around Christopher Reeve 'Superman' After the screening, there was a lively and frequently humorous Q&A with reminiscences about the making of the films, some pointed remarks about the sequel's bumpy history and everyone honoring Christopher Reeve's timeless interpretation of the Man of Steel. For at least this attendee, it was a night of magic 28 years in the making. And everyone got a new Superman comic book – written by Richard Donner himself! HOW COOL IS THAT!!!

Wondering where the review of Superman II the Donner cut is. In the 11/3 "coffee" it says a review will be forthcoming. It is now well after the release of the dvd and still no review. Just wondering.

The Richard Dooner cut of Superman 2 will be released on Nov 28 on all 3 video formats DVD,HD DVD,and Blu-ray.Superman 1 and Returns will also be released that day on HD DVD and Blu-Ray.3 and 4 will not be out on High def thoe,but 3 and 4 will be released on regular DVD with new special features,and also The Richard Lester cut of Superman 2 will also be out with new special features.

this new version of superman 2 is like a whole new movie. I would recommend you watching the theatre version of superman 2 before watching the new cut.

What the f*ck? Why is there NO mention of the content of the new cut? Talk about a tease! Why even bother to mention the evening, with nothing about the new cut? Sort of like saying you dicovered the meaning of the universe, but just wanted to wait until it collapses. You found the cure for cancer, but wanted to wait a few weeks before letting anyone know. You just stumbled accross the lost city of Atlantis, but wanted to wait until the new season of 24 begins before telling it's location. You just discovered a rip in the fabric of space that will destroy everything, but thought you'd wait until Brad and Angelinas baby graduates community college. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
